On Wednesday December 16th, K-2 received a special treat when Ms. Tailor was invited to their classroom to teach them about Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Diwali is one of the biggest Hindus festivals celebrated in India. Ms. Tailor read the children "Lighting a Lamp: A Diwali Story" and then talked about Diwali while answering the children's questions as they were completing an activity.

A Season for Giving
As we prepare to enter the Holiday Season this December, I realized something while purchasing some toys to bring to the Devils Game with me on Friday for their Annual Toys for Tots Drive. If we all give a little a small amount what we can afford we can help a lot of people. I really am not one to ask for others help but if all my friends could help out my students by giving a little bit you really can make a difference. Please help fund this project for my students it would really mean a lot to me. You can enter any amount you want remember every little bit helps.

K-4 Family Turkeys Project
Walking down the hall I noticed a great project that K-4 had done to kick off their unit about families. I wanted to share it with those of you who might not get a chance to make it over to see it before it disappears.
The students and their familes really did a great job decorating their turkeys!
Here is the description of the project posted on the board.
"The boys and girls in K-4 each took home a turkey and decorated it with their whole family. It was a great way to kick off our unit about families!"

Kindergarten Pumpkin Picking Trip Fairfield Farms
In Loving Memory of Tamia Metz
I was ready to start off the November Blog Posts and had to take some time to think about how to convey such sad news. On October 31, 2009 a life was taken from us far too soon. I had the pleasure of teaching Tamia for a little over 2 years and she was a pleasure to have in class and her smile could light up a room. She will be missed deeply but will always remain in my heart.
I wanted to share the program from her Memorial Service with those who were either unable to attend the service or just want a copy as a remembrance.
