The students watched a short video on test-taking strategies and answered questions, followed by a rousing game of Jeopardy, hosted by Ms. Schwebel. Two contestants were chosen to represent each class in this exciting contest. Students chose from four categories. The brave contestants included, for grade 3:
3-1: Jamil C. and Reianna R.
3-2: Courtnee J. and Ramir M.
3-3: Kimani A. and Khaylah G.
3-4: Jaylen B. and Kelly-Jo K.
and for grade 4:
4-1: De’andre A. and Ja’Nyah E.
4-2: Damoni F.and Rashemah W.
4-3: Faith N. and Princely N.
4-4: Jasmine G. and Ameen F.
The winners of the contests were 3-1 and 4-4, and each received a trophy. However congratulations go out to all the contestants, who amazed us with their knowledge and courage in representing their classes.
Finally one boy group and one girl group from each grade represented their classes in a dance move contest to the NJ ASK Rap. Winners were the girls from classroom 3-3 and 4-1. Sorry boys, you were terrific too, but the loudest cheers were for the girls, who won First Place ribbons, with runner-up prizes going to the boys.
Students left with smiles on their faces, after receiving snacks and goody bags.
The Pep Rallies were led by the Title I Reading and Math Teachers, along with help from student cheerleaders. They lifted the doldrums surrounding state testing, and boosted the students’ morale. Remember our chant- “We’re the best, we’ll beat the test!”
