Stay Safe this Halloween!
Halloween Safety Tips
Always use common sense.
Young children should always go trick-or-treating with an adult.
Never trick-or-treat alone. Have at least 2 buddies go with you.
Plan your entire route and make sure your family knows what it is.
Make sure that you are wearing a flame retardant costume.
Wait until you get home and your parents check your candy before you eat it.
Be very cautious of strangers.
Accept treats only in the doorway. Never go inside a house.
Be sure and say thank you for your treats.
Don't play near lit jack-o-lanterns.
Visit only houses where the lights are on.
Walk, Do not run.
Walk on sidewalks and driveways.
Cross the street at the corner or in a crosswalk.
Take a cellular phone with you if possible.
Wear a watch.
Carry a flashlight.

Trunk or Treat Volunteers Needed!
On October 31st, EOCCS will be holding it's 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat Event. The event is being held to honor the memory of Tamia Metz an EOCCS student who was hit by a car and killed while Trick or Treating in 2009. We want to provide our students and their families with a safe environment to enjoy the holiday.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the event.
There are 3 ways to help!

1. Donate candy & treats!
2. Decorate your trunk and welcome Trick or Treaters!
3. Do Both!!

EOCCS Library Card Contest Winners
Winning Classes for each grade level in the Library Card Contest are- K-4, 1-1, 2-4, 3-1, and 4-1. Each child in the winning classes will receive a $6 gift certificate to the December Scholastic Book Fair to be held at 99 Washington Street! But let's not stop there-parents-bring your children to get library cards if they don't already have them, and if they do, bring them often to borrow books they enjoy-literacy begins at home!
Update: We had a tie in Kindergarten between K-4 & K-5 so both classes will receive gift certificates.
