On January 27, 2010, an exciting event was held at EOCCS! In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service and the 10th Anniversary of the PBS Kids’ show Clifford the Big Red Dog, the school hosted two Clifford parties, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, for students in kindergarten through second grade and their families. The event, sponsored by NJ Network/ PBS and led by a representative of the station, Debbi Gallanter, included an airing of a Clifford episode, a read-aloud and stations with activities for the students to participate in. Refreshments were served and each student received a free book to take home.
The program called Be Big With Clifford: Ten Days, Ten Ways promoted ten big ideas we should all aspire to and that help to support children’s social and emotional growth: Help Others, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Kind, Be Truthful, Believe in Yourself, Play Fair, Be a Good Friend, Share, and Be Responsible. The event was a success and all in attendance had a wonderful time!
